Live Review: Feki 'Remember'

8 April 2015 | 11:41 am | Emma Jones

Brisbane newcomer Feki continues his strong run of releases with his future-chill/R&B groove track 'Remember'.

Fresh faced Brisbane newcomer FEKI isn't one to sit still for very long. The 19 year old has been consistently pumping remixes and originals since last year, and his latest track 'Remember' is perhaps his best yet!

Weaving his way through a variety of genres to ultimately create his own, 'Remember' is as much "future-chill" as it is experimental as the producer continues to play with different elements. From the light synth work to the heavy electronic almost trap beat, the obscure vocal samples and even the beautiful, swelling synths towards the end, Feki is refusing to be pigeonholed and instead creates an intricate soundscape with a lot going on.

It's soulful, groovy and packs a punch, but is also so chilled that it could lull you into a dream, Remember is an ambitious but assertive move from the up-and-coming producer. It's tracks like this that make it no surprise he was selected as one of our Artists to Watch for 2015, proving he is a formidable force in the plethora of producers popping up everywhere.

Continuing to hone in on his future-chill stylings, it's obvious Feki has been working hard on Remember. Immediately reminiscent of the likes of Ta-Ku or even James Blake, this latest track shows that he's just about ready to run with the big boys.
