Live Review: Body Language 'Really Love' (Gold Fields' 'Body Funk' Remix)

9 April 2015 | 12:19 pm | Emma Jones

Melbourne's Gold Fields remix New York's Body Language and their track 'Really Love', taking it from the grimy underground to the disco dancefloor!

Slowly but surely becoming "kings of the remixes", GOLD FIELDS are at it again with Brooklyn's BODY LANGUAGE and their track, 'Really Love'.

What was originally a significant deviation from their original disco sound, Body Language plunged their way into the underground with 'Really Love', encompassing dub, R'n'B and hip-hop into their new sound. It would be surprising for them then, to see that Gold Fields have turned it around and taken it back to where they started - the disco dancefloor.

Shimmering, glittery synths, a bassline you can't not groove to and vocals that gone from a high pitched female to a soulful male, this Body Funk remix takes nu-disco to a whole new level. They've amped up the nostalgia as well, with most of the sounds throwing back to the 70's disco tunes - right at home with Body Language's previous tracks.

Gold Fields have managed to make their new edit incomparable to the original, as the differences between the two are so stark. It can be said, however, that this new mix breathes some fresh air into the dark, grimy original mix

Whilst Gold Fields have recently appeared in a string of DJ sets, they've been keeping any new original material firmly under wraps. Body Language are set to embark on a mini tour across the US.
