Live Review: Avec Sans 'Resonate'

30 April 2015 | 3:50 pm | Emma Jones

English/Trindad duo Avec Sans keep fighting the good fight to no longer let "pop" be a dirty word with their latest track, 'Resonate'.

Pop isn't a dirty word anymore, and it's thanks to acts like English/Trindad AVEC SANS who are showing just how great that genre can be. Their latest track 'Resonate' is a perfect exercise in electro pop, as they continue pushing boundaries with their hard hitting but uplifting sounds.

The beautiful female vocals from Alice Fox lead the charge in 'Resonate', alongside its thumping beat and bright synths. Drawing comparisons to frontrunners like CHVRCHES, this upbeat and passionate track is enough to get anyone going.

Not holding back even for a second, things are off and running from the get go. Practically booming, Fox's vocals echo over the bed of synths and stuttered vocal samples. The track races ahead, almost crashing in on itself as it takes off in the chorus. It's slightly more downtempo than other electro-pop tracks, which could well be one of the many appealing factors - it's not like the others.

The rise and fall of the verses and chorus continue, with Fox's voice soaring effortlessly over the crashing percussion and atmospheric synth swells. Falling back completely, the track is suddenly cut back to just a trickle in a slight reprieve, before once again taking off in spectacular fashion.

The duo are apparently working on their debut album, which is shaping up to be one hell of a release if this single is anything to go by!
