Live Review: Dance Cult ‘Holographic’

17 March 2015 | 3:55 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Mike Metro and Benson are Dance Cult. A new collaborative project, the two have just released their EP, with the stunning B-Side, 'Holographic'.

DANCE CULT is the lovechild of two killer Australian-based producers. MIKE METRO and BENSON got together for this lovely little project, and have churned out some of the freshest beats I’ve heard in a while.

DANCE CULT was actually a very unexpected project, but it works so incredibly well. The Melbourne natives have just dropped their collaborative EP together. It features ‘Anything Tonight’ and the newly put out B-side, ‘Holographic.

‘Holographic’ is such a stand out. It has a killer beat from the start, and the percussion has been utilised to such a creative degree, that it actually becomes the forefront of the track.

The bass line is full, but it’s absent until the hook comes in in full force. However, it is definitely the hook that brings you in. It’s the rhythm of that pulsing sample with the bouncy sheen of the melodic synth that tie the track together nicely.

It feels a little more progressive than anything, but this rich slice of house does so well in solidifying just how talented these two producers are, particularly together.

DANCE CULT don’t need to prove anything, ‘Holographic’ particularly says it all.
