Live Review: Astronomyy 'All I Need' ft. Denai Moore

12 March 2015 | 11:58 pm | Emma Jones

Astronomyy has teamed up with Denai Moore for a new sublime alt-R'n'B track, 'All I Need'.

Known for his impossibly smooth tracks, ASTRONOMYY (yes, with two 'Y's) got to a point where many thought he couldn't get any smoother - until he teamed up with DENAI MOORE. Together, they created All I Need - an example of how to do alt-R'n'B properly.

Starting off with a simple piano melody, ASTRONOMYY's gentle and charming voice starts things off slowly over a few finger clicks. By the time MOORE joins in, backing vocals begin to swirl as delicate percussion plays in the background. Suddenly, the bass drops and things are really grooving for the chorus, however just as quickly as it came about it vanishes, and we're back to where we started.

The track washes over you, putting a dreamy spin on the regular alternative R'n'B that we hear so much of lately. It's dynamic, with it's ebbing and flowing, and even features a blistering guitar solo as the production takes over completely. Creating an atmospheric sound, the two silky smooth vocalists feed off each other, with each element of this track complimenting the other instead of taking away from it.
