Live Review: T.Williams 'Back & Forth'

16 January 2015 | 2:29 pm | Julie Fenwick

‘Back & Forth’, the most recent track from London-based producer T.Williams, is a heavily bass infused and undeniably danceable track.

Once a batter for Grimes-based production under the alias Dread.D, producer T.Williams (newly named as of 2010) has since moved into a slight change of sound and style, now tackling his own unique and masterful perspective on House music.

Though he may have left his former alias behind, it is most likely that his versatile background in Grimes is what has allowed him, to so meticulously, forge a sound that seems to skilfully morph grimes, house and dubstep all in one ear-meltingingly good experience that uniquely defines T.Williams.

‘Back and Forth’, the most recent track from the London-based producer is a heavily bass infused and undeniably danceable collection of all things that make house music good. From its ‘almost’ jungle-beat core to it’s slightly synthed voice, this track, though simple in its concept, is less so in it’s execution.

The subtle though quick paced build-ups that open up to silence or give way to thunderous and rumbling bass is what really gives the song it’s vibrant, house entity. But the repeated though catchily manipulated ‘back and forth’ lyric placed over a carefully crafted percussion and paired with sequences of memorable jabbing synth are what make this song so good. In fact, the subtle yet catchy synth jab sequences, that are either featured by themselves or layered behind the other elements of his pulsating production are what really makes this work his own and are sure to send anyone into a hypnotic state of feel-good dance vibes.

In the past year, T.Williams could be seen breezing through the world circuit stopping in pretty much every continent and in every major city. Now sharing stage with such artists as Destructo, Anna Lunoe and Motez in the month long Ship2ship tour, T.Williams only has a few more shows until he returns home to the UK.

Though T.Williams doesn't have any Australian shows left on his agenda he can be seen pumping beats at shows in America and the UK early this year.
