Live Review: San Holo 'Hiding' ft. The Nicholas

18 January 2015 | 12:00 am | Julie Fenwick

With likeness to such artists as Cashmere Cat and Wave Racer, San Holo's futuristic electronica is as seemingly serene as it is energetic.

As of yet, not much has been said in Australia about Dutch producer SAN HOLO but with an Australian tour in the making set to commence in 2015, there is no doubt that we’ll be hearing more from him in the next few months.

With likeness to such artists as Cashmere Cat and Wave Racer, San Holo’s futuristic electronica is as seemingly serene as it is energetic, upbeat as it is provocatively thoughtful. ‘Hiding’ off his most recent EP ‘Cosmos’ is a direct reflection of these elements.

The evocative bass and sweet melodic twangs of synth, as well as the added airy and beautifully manipulated vocals, create an almost nostalgic atmosphere that not only provokes movement of the human body but also provides a tune for needed down time. The most outstanding feature of this record, however, has to be its ability to so wholly captivate the futuristic tale of the ‘Cosmos’, it’s sincere and craftily woven layers demonstrating San Holo’s ability to tell a magnificent story.

Though much of San Holo’s discography consists of remixes, which provide incredible futuristic and unique perspectives on much loved classics, he is said to be set to drop a few more originals in the up and coming future. Watch out for this great artist in 2015 as he spreads his talent’s to Australia in the coming months.
