Live Review: Akouo 'Pieces'

20 January 2015 | 9:00 am | Clare Mingorance

Tasmanian producer Akouo gives us a taste of his upcoming EP with his latest track 'Pieces'.

If anyone had a busy 2014, it was that of Tasmanian producer AKOUO. From countless remixes, to the release of his Mesa EP, and a number of live performances, AKOUO proved he really could do it all.

It looks like he's following in last year's footsteps, already dropping a brand new track just weeks into the new year. 'Pieces' is the name of the track, and it's the first taste of his upcoming EP. On this latest release, AKOUO's production is about as smooth as it comes, but I suppose we'd expect nothing less after proving himself on countless occasions.

With layers upon layers of dreamy and somewhat intriguing percussion, and male vocals that float throughout with pure perfection, this track is truly one that would be extremely hard to fault.

Known predominantly for his remixing and reworking abilities, after putting his spin on tracks from the likes of Kilter, ZHU, Thief, Flume and Safia (just to name a few), it's always a treat hearing original material from the Australian producer, and this track definitely does not disappoint.

AKOUO is set to drop another new single 'All They Do' on the 26th of January, and will feature Monsoonsiren and Mayo.

It's safe to say my hopes are officially high after hearing 'Pieces'.
