Live Review: Renz 'Pineapples'

8 December 2014 | 12:00 am | Lauren Payne

Renz has a new treat for us in the form of 'Pineapples'.

Summer is upon us and RENZ has chosen to celebrate one of his favourite fruits of the season with a new track simply titled 'Pineapples'.

The track is one you'll no doubt be hearing at parties over the three months of scorching heat we're about to endure, because it's fun and infectious melodies will make you feel more comfortable in Australia's most unpredictable months.

RENZ has recorded a new EP called Never Change and it's full of chopped vocals and those bright themes we've come to love from the Melbourne man. You'd be forgiven for thinking that RENZ hailed from a more tropical part of town since the Never Change EP has such energetic melodies, colourful samples and warm synths, but it's all just talent that has been broadcast again through 'Pineapples'.

Starting off with something a bit smoother, softer synths swim around the introduction of 'Pineapples' before building themselves up into a piece of music that has RENZ written all over it. The tempo is steady with the beat staying quite tame and the samples and chopped vocals scatter themselves over the handclaps that work as a backbone for the track.

'Pineapples' is a very solid track with musical juice bursting out of it's tasty melody. RENZ is one of Melbourne's most imaginative producers, creating music for the summer holidays that we're constantly dreaming of.
