Live Review: Oisima 'Sun Of Truth' ft. Mei Saraswati

11 December 2014 | 1:45 pm | Emma Jones

Adelaide beatmaker signs to Create / Control for new album out mid-2015 and delivers new song 'Sun of Truth' ft Mei Saraswati.

The man behind one of the Australian electronic scene's most iconic beards has been relatively quiet as of late, however he has now finally made his triumphant return in the way only he knows how! That's right, OISIMA is back with a brand new track, Sun of Truth featuring MEI SARASWATI on vocal duties, and it's better than ever!

Having recently signed to CREATE/CONTROL, and talk of a new album in the works titled Nicaragua Nights, this is the first taste of what 2015 will hold for one of Australia's most exciting beatmakers. Following the success of previous track, Everything About HerOISIMA has stuck to what he's good at, and built on that to deliver this perfect sunny afternoon or heaving dancefloor song.

With his omnipresent hip-hop drums, combined with layers upon layers of intricate production and SARASWATI's hypnotic vocals, Sun Of Truth is a late contender for one of the top songs of 2014. Saxophones add jazz elements to the already genre-defying track, as OISIMA harnesses on tropical influences and gives them a futuristic twist.

Starting off with a choir of SARASWATI's vocals layered, the bass drops and those beats he's so well known for kick into action. Horns and flutes sound, and MEI is borderline angelic with her R&B styled vocals. There are so many different things happening in this song, even including some laser sounds for good measure. It's high intensity and blending of so many genres is pulled off in spectacular fashion, and is an incredibly exciting first track for next year's LP.

OISIMA was recently touring the country with WILLOW BEATS on their national tour, and has also supported the likes of BONOBOTOKiMONSTA, and XXYYXX. He also delivered scorching sets at Splendour In The GrassRed Bull Stage and BIGSOUND, and is set to play FIELD DAY as well! With all of this under his belt already, it seems there is no stopping OISIMA and his technicolour tunes!
