Live Review: DNKL 'Battles' (Seekae Remix)

8 December 2014 | 10:04 pm | Clare Mingorance

Sydney-based electronic trio Seekae remix 'Battles', a track set to feature on Swedish trio DNKL's debut album.

In recent months, we've watched a number of remixes of SEEKAE originals pop up, including the work from both FLUME and TA-KU side project HWLS, on their track 'Test and Recognise'. However it appears that SEEKAE have been busy doing some remixing of their own.

There's no denying that it's been a big year for the Sydney-based electronic trio. Following the success of their previous albums, The Sound of Trees Falling on People and +Dome, it was only a couple of months ago that they finally released their long-awaited third studio album, The Worry. We learnt then that the album, released via Future Classic, was very much worth the wait.

Since then, the boys have been busy promoting their latest album release by touring in Australia, Europe and more recently America. However, somehow amongst all of this, the trio still manages to find time for new music. While they're off touring the big U.S. of A, their latest remix of DNKL's 'Battles' is receiving a whole lot of love in the blogging world, Purple Sneakers included.

In this remix, SEEKAE have created a more beat-heavy version of the original track, while building upon its soothing essence with incredible synths. DNKL's dreamy vocals remain but have been reworked to fit with the more choppy sounds known of SEEKAE. It's a big call but this track definitely gives the original a run for its money.

For those of you who don't know, DNKL are a relatively new Swedish electronic trio, who are set to release their debut EP Wolfhour later this month through Sugarcane Recordings, where SEEKAE's remixed track will feature.
