Live Review: Baby Alpaca 'Roller Coaster'

It's been a long year since we've heard anything from the New Yorker band Baby Alpaca, changing up their tone with the first track to their upcoming EP.

It's been a long year since we've heard anything from the New Yorker band BABY ALPACA, changing up their tone with the first track to their upcoming EP 'Roller Coaster' which will be released on JD Samson's label 'Atlas Chair'.

Roller Coaster oozes more of a promiscuous sexy R&B vibe than their last releases, it still maintains the same alluring vocals but the hard hitting beat and sexy lithe guitar lines turn it into a take it to the bedroom kind of feel.

The previous releases from BABY ALPACA 'Wild Child' and 'Sea of dreams' induce a more dream like state, which makes sense since the inspiration for wild child came from Chris's week stay in the Sahara, initiating a week of self reflection.

I think it's fairly obvious from the way this track makes us feel and lyrics like 'So delicious, the taste of innocence drifting away... strip it away' that it's about sex, but what exactly was main man Chris Kittrell thinking when he wrote it - “You know the feeling you get after amazing sex? All dizzy, weak in the knees, about to pass out. It reminds me of being at a theme park: carnival games, swing chairs, wooden roller coasters". It definitely makes us see Chris in a new light.

It will be interesting to see if their upcoming EP continues down the sensual R&B path, all we know as of yet is that they have been collaborating with Filip Nikolic (Poolside/Turbotito) so obviously we are eager to hear what they will unleash.
