Artists To Watch In 2015: Shamir

Las Vegas native SHAMIR has taken 2014 by the horns, and really made it into his own. He’s been nominated for BBC Music’s Sound of 2015 and he’s now signed to XL Recordings alongside the likes of ADELE, VAMPIRE WEEKEND and heaps more absolute legends.

He’s on the rise overseas, but he’s yet to become huge here in Australia. But that’s about to change soon. With a constant output of sheer quality music, he’s bound to hit us in no time.

In fact, he actually already has. His latest single ‘On The Regular’ showcases his rather pre-pubescent tenor vocals that are actually very characteristic of his sound. The production aspect of the track is absolutely huge. Optimistic synths paired with a crisp cowbell makes for one dance track that goes off the books and forges a name for itself.

SHAMIR’s music is innovative, interesting, colourful and a billion other words under the sun. But I think it is in the delivery, and it is the vivacious and absolutely roaring nature of the sound itself. He’s made something fun, and something that will be memorable, particularly in a community that thrives on standing out from the rest of the herd.
