Thanks to the legends over at Laneway Presents, Brooklyn outfit THE DRUMS are returning to Australia this month. They’re out here in support of their latest studio album, ‘Encyclopedia’. A real testament to how far the duo has come sees their third studio album out of the studio and into the arms of the many they’ve already won over.

Founding members Jonny Pierce and Jacob Graham met as kids at a summer camp. Bonding over their outcast childhoods, the pair were both homeschooled and lived in what Pierce described as ‘poverty’. Coming together to overcome each other’s adversity, fast forward to 2008, and THE DRUMS was conceived.

Three LP’s, two EP’s, a few lineup changes here or there and a passion that has never died, THE DRUMS still continue to bring their surf rock concoction to the fore whenever possible. It’s a sound that encompasses a confidence and knowingness like never before, and it’s refreshing to say the least. ‘Encyclopedia’ has everything THE DRUMS have had to overcome. Confidence, change, adversity and a musical diversity that continues to set them apart from the rest.

You can catch the boys in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from the 29th of November to the 2nd of December. ROLLS BAYCE and TEMPURA NIGHTS will be supporting in Brisbane, SUNBEAM SOUND MACHINE in Melbourne and THE UPSKIRTS in Sydney.

Want to head along to the show in your closest city? We’re giving away a double pass to one of their shows over the weekend!

All you have to do to enter is send us your name and contact details to [email protected] and you and a mate could be heading off to see THE DRUMS over the weekend.

No idea where she’ll be in 10 years, but as long as she has a good record and a glass of white wine, she’ll be sweet.
