Live Review: Oceaan 'Candour'

30 November 2014 | 12:39 pm | Lauren Payne

Oceaan's new single 'Candour' is going to make your day

Manchester-based producer OCEAAN has been releasing his music only recently but no one can deny this guys amazing talent.

He has been compared to both SOHN and JAMES BLAKE which may give you a pretty close description of the smooth electronica he's creating, but the truth is that OCEAAN has got something that makes him extremely unique and you can hear it on his latest single 'Candour'.

There's an element in OCEAAN's music that makes you feel not only relaxed, but surprisingly comfortable. His music seems to put you in a state almost reminiscent to sleep as it feels so natural and like something you've done a thousand times. 'Candour' is the first single that will be featured on OCEAAN's second EP The Grip, and is the track that perfectly sums up everything great about him.

With vocals that whisper alongside the minimal synths slowly making their way into the piece, 'Candour' sounds very soft and delicate. It's a track that does build itself into a climax, but does so in a very organic way. the build doesn't feel forced, it edges it's way up on it's own before exploding into a series of bright synths that beam themselves across the track. The percussion plays a big part in the track, as does the subtle samples that crumble and crunch their way through 'Candour'.

OCEAAN's EP The Grip will be released through Chess Club and keep an eye on this one as his music will latch onto you from the first listen.
