Live Review: Future Island 'Seasons' (BADBADNOTGOOD Interpretation)

A little while ago we revealed the hard hitting techno remix of this iconic track 'Seasons' by dance producers DJ Dodger Stadium, a complete contrast from the original, extending it into a 6 minute long piece of fist pumping madness. Now BADBADNOTGOOD (BBNG) have, how they like to call it, given their interpretation, turning it into a soulful jazz slow jam.

BBNG have been known for lending their soulful jazz flavours to the hip hop world, collaborating with GHOSTFACE KILLAH (with album 'Sour Soul' coming out early next year), DANNY BROWN and TYLER. The jazz-hip hop infusion has been such a well crafted blend, and now using one of the top indie releases of this year, they have done it again.

Listening to the pop synth original, it seems like such an unlikely pairing of tastes, but with the use of the slow jazz groove to accompany Samuel T. Herrings vocals, the true husky soul in his voice is accentuated, and slowly consumes you.

BBNG knew this straight away 'We heard Sam's isolated singing and realized how soulful and emotive it was and seemed to sound the best was re-harmonizing the chords and taking it in a soul direction.' They know what works with their sound which is why all their material is so instantaneously seductive.
