Tour Essentials: Peking Duk
Chinese proverbs have called 2014 the year of the Duk, Peking Duk no less. While that sentence was in fact a complete load of nonsense the sentiment is almost an under statement.
Their single High ft. NICOLE MILLAR released earlier this year was an absolute triumph of electronic pop and one that I’ll never fully be able to shake from my head.
The Canberra boys backed that up with a whole bunch of shows across the country including a highlight set at Splendour In The Grass. While this should be more than enough to be able to hang ones boots up for the rest of the year Peking Duk have instead opted to put out another killer single with SAFIA and a whole bunch more shows.
Peking Duk are set to play Beyond The Valley, Field Day and Stereosonic this summer. They have filled us in on some of the things they will be packing to keep them regular while on the road:
“Airports, planes and travel in general is impossible without them. Also remember, the plugs in havvies pop way too easily so make sure they’re Rip Curls or any of the sturdier makes.”
“The second you wake up pop two of these bad boys and smash a double shot instant hotel coffee and you can function entirely. No matter how hungover you are you can still function with this incredible product. Never have less than two packs handy.”
“Know now that you will want to work on music whilst touring. If you just drink and forget about the tunes you will end up a lazy pig with no music. Remember, with ibuprofin and coffee it doesn’t matter how hungover you are.. You can still do what you love most and make tunes wherever you are.”
“On tour you are eating burgers, karaage chicken, and of course all forms of Mexican food. Keep your vitamins up with your favourites, could be multi vitamins or fish oil or whatever you like… For me it is nothing but Spirulina and Dark Chocolate. I got onto Spirulina from a good friend of ours Tommy Franklin.
He was mixing it with vodka before a show.. It is real, you have energy like nothing else on this shit and it is purely nutritiousness at its best. Dark Chocolate isn’t really a vitamin but it tastes real good.”
“Do not dare try to tour without this beast of a sinus clearer. Most importantly don’t try to party without it. A blocked nose makes you feel like rubbish and this is the only way to clear it easily and naturally. It fills one nostril with salt water, builds up pressure then all of a sudden that same water is shooting out your other nostril. INCREDIBLE SHIT.”
