Live Review: Premiere: Odesza ‘Say My Name (Saul Sweet Remix)’

Selling out shows all across the US, it’s safe to say that the production duo behind ODESZA have been killing it. With their second album ‘In Return’ dropping at the beginning of September, their artillery continues to grow and push forward at full force.

Queensland’s SAUL SWEET saw potential for a killer remake, and leapt at the opportunity. We here at Purple Sneakers are pleased as punch to be premiering SAUL SWEET’s take on ODESZA’s ‘Say My Name’.

He’s essentially stripped it back from its original state of heightened house pandemonium, and brought an element of funk and bareback precision to the table. SAUL has essentially shifted the track from on genre to another, something that is not particularly simple to translate. And has done so with extreme ease and professionalism.

I think this remix does the original track justice, and even more so, puts an alternative perspective on the track that makes us fall even harder for new aspects.

SAUL SWEET has innovatively championed a house track into one that follows the guise of a more funk ridden melody, and has done so with style and a fantastic grandeur.
