Live Review: Mana Island 'Stare'

26 October 2014 | 12:00 am | Darren Ng

Moscow band Mana Islands release new single 'Stare' filled with tropical guitar parts and lush R&B vocals.

Moscow indie pop band MANA ISLAND must know that they have done something right. Being personally picked by British rock band FOALS as support act for their Russian tour in Moscow and St. Petersburg even before their debut album has been released, has certainly did wonders in raising their profile.

With newest single, 'Stare', the five-piece match their tremendous claims with modern yet stylish indie pop tunes.

'Stare' enters into the pop world dominated by the likes Two Door Cinema Club and The Royal Concept at breakneck speed, featuring lush Justin Timberlake-sounding vocals that sings about lust and love, wrapping around a backbone of rigorous bass lines, whimsical synthesiser parts and tropicana-sounding guitar parts.

The lyrics are cheeky and written with the charm of a heart-throb, making Mana Island the perfect boys to front covers. Mana Island are hashing out their debut album for release in the middle of next year.
