Live Review: Jerome LOL 'All That I Am' ft. Sara Z

23 October 2014 | 12:00 am | Emma Jones

Jerome LOL teams up with Sara Z for a third time in a new techno/house track ahead of the Friends of Friends five year anniversary compilation.

One half of DJ Dodger Stadium, LA Producer Jerome LOL (also known as Jerome Potter) has just dropped his latest track, featuring the impossibly infectious vocals of Sara Z.

Titled All That I Am, the track is part of a new double-CD compilation, Five Years Of Friends Of Friends, which is being released in conjunction with the five year anniversary of LA label, Friends Of Friends.

Encompassing facets of house, techno and even a bit of jungle, All That I Am is as meticulous as it is groovy. Sara Z's vocals are passionate, soulful and really quite beautiful at times. Premiered through Billboard, Potter said of his track that it was the first time he'd worked with a vocalist live in the studio, and judging by how well the song has come together, it should definitely not be his last.

The track builds with anticipation; all clicks and scattered drumming, paired with rising organ chords. The swirls of the music paired with Sara Z's vocals falling back, before rising back into the realms of techno/house with the thick rhythm section. The dynamic of the song continually shifts, never quite stopping in one place for too long. It's deliberate way of bringing you in, then changing direction shows just how technically talented Potter is.

Not one to sit still for long, this isn't the first collaboration between the two, with past works equally as impressive, though not quite as understated as All That I Am. Potter is, of course, also part of label Body High, and used to be part of the now disbanded LOL Boys. Other achievements for 2014 for Jerome Potter include DJ Dodger Stadium recently released an album, Friend Of Mine, as well as Jerome LOL's EP, Deleted/Fool.

All That I Am will be featured on the Five Years of Friends of Friends, along with new singles from the likes of Shlohmo and Daedelus, as well as remixes from Nicolas JaarRyan Hemsworth and Star Slinger.
