Live Review: Chela 'Handful of Gold'

27 October 2014 | 11:04 pm | Clare Mingorance

Chela drops her latest single 'Handful of Gold' with 80s disco and Madonna vibes.

After winning my heart with her feature in CLUBFEET's 'Heartbreak', Aussie electro-pop pro CHELA can do no wrong in my book.

Since the collab with the five-piece, CHELA has taken the music scene by a storm, releasing her EP 'Romanticise' mid-2013 and doing a string of shows abroad (I guess its only fair to give the rest of the world a chance to adore her as much as we do).

The recent drop of her latest single, titled 'Handful of Gold' lives up to all expectations of the Fremantle-born artist, showcasing incredible synths and mad 80s vibes, nothing short of the CHELA usual. This track however has people talking about a clearly undeniable old-school Madonna resemblance, making it all the more fitting to say that CHELA is without a doubt bringing 80s disco back.

It's safe to say that 2014 has been an exciting year for CHELA, with 'Handful of Gold' dropping just days ahead of her supporting role in the Check Yo Ponytail Tour alongside electronic duo THE PRESETS, set to hit North America.

This new feel-good track, which CHELA co-produced with Lars Stalfors and Le Bruce, is guaranteed to get you dancing and you'll find yourself singing along to the catchy chorus whether you intended to or not. If this single is any indication of what's to come from the electro-pop princess, then promising things lie ahead.
