Live Review: Cassian 'Running' ft. Cleopold

Recently signed to Sweat It Out! Music, Sydney's CASSIAN is onto something good with his latest track. Really good. Teaming up with CLEOPOLD, the product of the two is one hell of a song in Running.

The huge tune is the epitome of house-driven electro-pop, and will definitely be added to a plethora of summer playlists pretty much immediately.

Cassian is on top of his game right now. After a slew of club EPs and remixes (RUFUS, Alex Metric, BANKS) that topped HypeMachine and Beatport, he teamed up with Cleopold - who provides vocals for Miami Horror's track, Colours In The Sky - in LA, with the vocals actually being recorded by Bag Raiders.

The track was then finished in downtown London before being passed onto Stuart Hawkes (Disclosure, TEED), before finally being released.

Starting off slow and steady, Cleopold sings about his 'heart on the floor in pieces' in a remarkably soulful way. The bridge, complete with hand claps and future synth sounds, reaches a near euphoric state in the explosive chorus as Cleopold pleads about how he's been 'Running, All night'. From what actually sounds like a guy going through a rough time, Cassian makes it impossible NOT to dance your damn feet off.

The groovy bass line, the steel drums, the kick - I don't know about you guys, but I am going to be listening to this song a LOT in the months to come. Just as the track gradually built up, so too does it gradually fade away. The craftsmanship of his songwriting is what sets him apart from the countless other DJs and producers out there. Cassian is a natural, and this just reaffirms it.

Cassian has just started his national tour, and will be performing for the majority of November around the country. The last time I saw Cassian, I broke a shoe from dancing too much, so take my word for it and make sure you catch him!
