Live Review: Les Sins 'Bother' (Official Video)

11 September 2014 | 7:12 pm | Lauren Payne

Les Sins has a new music video for us and it's a vibrant piece of work.

The heavier and slightly more hip-hop influenced side-project of Chaz Bundick, LES SINS, has unleashed a brand new music video for 'Bother' and it's visual gold.

The video keeps to a very minimal aesthetic, with each shot being constructed by one object in a very spacious location. The action is minimal but who really needs a lot of action when the accompanying track is this good?

'Bother' is a solid song that many listeners have already considered to be one of LES SINS' best. The track has the simple lyric "don't bother me, I'm workin' " and with it being said rather than sung, it gives off a certain swagger highlighting the hip-hop influence of the track. Percussion and chopped vocal samples create a very unique melody whilst the atmospheric synths seem to connect each element into the smooth melody.

The video uses both colour and carefully placed imagery to capture a very relaxed and vibrant picture. Still shots of red pavement, yellow car wheels and the always entertaining wacky-blow-up-used-car-man, panned across a flawlessly blue sky, emphasises the colourful landscape and the summery vibe that 'Bother' seems to express. The blow-up man soon become the main subject of the video as it is moved and shown on the edge of a cliff, in a used car store carpark, on the back of a boat and being pulled across grass.

Bundick will be releasing LES SINS' debut album Michael through Company on November 4 so soon we'll be able to have 'Bother' and various other LES SINS' tracks sitting on our shelves right next to our TORO Y MOI material.
