Foreign/National Release self-titled EP + Announce National Tour

29 September 2014 | 4:15 pm | Darren Ng

Melbourne band Foreign/Natural produces a psychedelic pop album that borrows its influence from many jazz greats.

Pulling back the shades of time and drawing on a jazz presence, Melbourne five piece FOREIGN NATIONAL have just released a five-track self-titled EP and will perform three headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to celebrate.

'Life Tourist' infuses brightly strummed chords, crude vulgar lyrics and bold and snarky guitar parts that challenges the psychedelic pop culture that MGMT owe its allegiance to. While ‘Paris’ boasts testy fundamentals that descend lightly into the sphere of jazz, permeating with the psychedelic vision they have welcomed.

Mark Gage’s influences which ranges from Vincent Gallo to Chet Baker (with a B), draw the important alluring elements of jazz numbers and melds them with his love for moving psychedelic pop, before adding in swirling guitar parts and distorted bends to his vocals.
