Live Review: RUFUS 'Sarah' (Touch Sensitive Remix)

3 August 2014 | 11:00 pm | Lauren Payne

Touch Sensitive takes the reigns of a lesser known track from Rufus/Rufus Du Sol's debut album.

Mere days after closing the Mix Up tent at this year's Splendour In The Grass festival, RUFUS or RUFUS DU SOL for those Americans out there, have released a brand new remix from their deluxe edition of Atlas.

The remix is by 'Pizza Guy' himself TOUCH SENSITIVE and it's one work of genius that we really didn't see coming.

As surprises go, a TOUCH SENSITIVE remix of RUFUS' 'Sarah' kind of takes the cake. An extremely busy producer who takes the reigns of a lesser known song from a very popular album and transforms it into a track we simply can't stop listening to.

'Sarah' is a very underrated song from RUFUS' debut album. With a brooding introduction full of deep synths and clicking samples that crackle over a smooth base, vocalist Tyrone Lindqvist's voice carefully hovers over the melody that has been created for this velveteen track. 'Sarah' has a very soft quality that is surrounded by a tight wrapping of seduction. If that confuses you a bit, basically we're saying that it's a soft track that also sounds sexy.

TOUCH SENSITIVE has brightened up 'Sarah' slightly and you can hear that as soon as the first note of his remix plays. The brooding synths have been replaced by chimes and beaming synths that instead of brooding, beam across the sound spectrum he has created. The vocal mix is still as sultry as it was in the original track, however it seems to have a more comforting tone in TOUCH SENSITIVE's remix. A delicate beat is added into the mix mid-track and you have with you now a deep groove that becomes kind of addictive.

RUFUS' Atlas Light/Dark Edition is available to pre-order now and will be available to purchase on August 8. The new edition features a large collection of remixes by HAYDEN JAMES, CLASSIXX, MOTEZ, THE PRESETS and a hell of a lot more artists, so this new edition of Atlas will probably the most jam-packed album you'll buy in a very long time.
