Live Review: Olympic Ayres 'Say My Name'

28 August 2014 | 11:58 pm | Darren Ng

Sydney duo Olympic Ayres has released the third disco-filled single 'Say My Name' off their six-track EP Leisureplex.

Olympic Ayres really know how to make a great beat. After last year's hit single 'Take Flight' which garnered remixes from the Acaddamy and James Curd, Sydney-dwelling duo Olympic Ayres hasn't dropped the ball since and have no such plans on doing that.

Even though we have yet to fully recover from the feet-shuffling track they released in 'Control' last month, we have got our eyes set on their newest track release, 'Say My Name'. The track is the third single off their six-track EP, Leisurplex, which centres around the theme of escapism.

'Say My Name' starts out with a tropicana conga beat heralding the audio onslaught, embellishing it with a funky optimistic bass line provided by Nathan Mifsud. Kamaliza Salamba's charming voice in the chorus oozes of sensuality and is equally inviting, holding out a hand out for anyone willing to step in for a twirl. The overall mixture is a condensed version of funk, electronica, disco and atmospheric pop placed in a blender of strange thoughts at an 80s nightclub.
