Live Review: Moko 'Ceremony'

8 August 2014 | 12:00 am | Adriana Barro

Moko returns with an interesting new track that combines soaring vocals with drum and bass sounds

London based singer/ songwriter MOKO returns with a new track off her Gold EP which is due out on September 7th. The track 'Ceremony' follows on from the success of her track 'Your Love' and is set to turn a few heads on the scene with its interesting combination of soulful vocals and drum and bass sounds.

'Ceremony' begins at one end of the spectrum, with soft, brooding electronic sounds layered with the strong vocals MOKO is so well known for. 'Ceremony' sees plenty of pace changes which keep the track interesting as it progresses. It begins slowly before building up to the energetic bass which kicks in, hyping up the track to a frenzy of drum and bass beats and soaring vocals.

The direction of this track is much different to 'Your Love', as it moves away from the house, electro-funk sounds and moves toward a more chaotic, classic drum and bass type of sound. These differences between her tracks only work to show off the versatility of MOKO's incredible vocal range and her ability to match it with the slightly unexpected backing.
