WIN: Signal ft. DJ Spooky Double Pass

8 July 2014 | 6:26 pm | Hannah Galvin

New Yorker DJ Spooky will be headlining the live launch of collaborative Melbourne project Signal this weekend; and we've got a double pass to give away!

Event company The Operatives and sonic developers Stable Music are two highly intelligent, forward thinking syndicates that strive in delivering the best in boundless music to their attentive Melbourne audience.

Recently collaborating ideas to form their new collective SIGNAL, the innovators have announced their debut event taking place at The Howler this weekend.

Renowned for introducing Melbourne to some of the world's most revolutionary artists over the past decade, the inaugural Signal event will see multi-talented New Yorker Paul D. Miller take to the stage to showcase his prestigious brand of rich electronica. Known in his calibre as DJ SPOOKY (or even The Subliminal Kid), the artist knows a thing or two about invention. Not only is DJ Spooky a turntablist, producer and composer, he's also rather talented when given the title of editor, author, philosopher and mutlimedia artist. His vigour can be proven with the knowledge that he's previously composed music for Yoko Ono and has released tunes via influential Jamaican label Trojan Records.

Having toured the world several times, DJ Spooky will aid Melbourne with his expertise for the Annual Conference of the Australasian Computer Music Association where he'll appear as a keynote speaker. But what would be a huge trip overseas for the whimsical extraordinaire without a special live set?

To be joined by the young and talented Silent Jay as well as Signal's own Matt Radovich and JPS going back to back, catch this powerhouse of inspiration at the Howler this Saturday, 12th July from 8pm-1am. Tickets are $25 +bf and can be purchased HERE.
