SPANK ROCK never wanted to be a rapper. He grew up in Baltimore, experiencing the darker side of life. His latest track ‘Gully’ reflects his experiences growing up, and the video is even more of a representation.

‘Gully’ itself is a beat driven cesspit laced with dirty vibes and some pretty crafty synths. Naeem Juwan AKA SPANK ROCK raps over the electronic track, giving off an AZEALIA BANKS-esque sound.

The video for ‘Gully’ shows aspects of NYC that you wouldn’t usually see. The candid shots delve deep into the murky drug habits and evening antics from locals. It portrays the seedier side of life, but in a way that makes it almost accessible and somewhat habitable.

SPANK ROCK has created an honest portrayal of life through sonics and film to create what is essentially a collage of a lifetime of experiences.
