Live Review: Swick 'USBCLUBTRAX' EP

23 July 2014 | 12:09 pm | Lauren Payne

Swick has released a new four-track EP that needs to be played on repeat.

We adore receiving new tracks from artists and producers, but when we receive four amazing gems, then it's kind of hard to sit still.

SWICK has just released a stream of a new four-track EP called USBCLUBTRAX on Soundcloud and each track has it's own unique sound that will no doubt get you dancing straight away. SWICK has been releasing some pretty sweet tunes of late and this EP reminds us all that he has got some fantastic production skills.

The USBCLUBTRAX EP begins with some juicy tropical vibes on ' Total 90'. The single is full of pulsating horns, parading past a series of whistles that remind you of an extremely busy carnivale street. The track throbs with a heavy trap influence and a steady beat that carries you onto the second track, 'Super Gold Tennis'. Main Course described the second track as a "ping pong match on steroids", which is pretty on point. 'Super Gold Tennis' features a series of hollow-sounding popping samples that bounce across a smooth layer of synths that slide underneath the tame samples.

'Full Court', the third track, just from the name seems like a follow up of 'Super Gold Tennis', but you soon realise that the two pieces are nothing a like. There are similar popping samples used in 'Full Court', however the high-pitched swirling synths create an almost alarming track that quickly catches your attention. 'Zig Zag Radio' finishes off the USBCLUBTRAX EP with a chopped identity. With short synths scattered across the track, 'Zig Zag Radio' also features brief radio coverage of soccer matches and other announcements from the dominant medium. The track holds a familiar aura, reminding you of the first track, which tells us that SWICK's latest offering should be played on repeat.

The USBCLUBTRAX EP is available as a free download on Soundcloud until August 22.
