Live Review: Loston 'Next Exit'

7 July 2014 | 2:03 pm | Lauren Payne

Loston has released a stunning new original track.

We've heard a lot of great stuff from LOSTON over the past year. The Perth-based producer has reworked some of our favourite tracks and now after remixing BANKS, SAMPHA and JAMES BLAKE, he's gone all out and given us an original to listen to.

There's a running pattern in this artists work that many of you may or may not have noticed. LOSTON always seems to have a large climax in the middle of his tracks, something that resembles a sunrise or a large burst of glitter in the air. It's sweet, it's atmospheric and he has definitely perfected it.

In 'Next Exit' we hear that lovely crescendo and also have it layered with some very soft house synths  that make it seem that much more versatile and textured.

'Next Exit' begins very quietly with the synths slowly building themselves up with vocal samples echoing above them. Hand claps work well here as the track recovers form it's large peak and soon we are brought into another build with swinging synths soaring up to their highest pitch.

This definitely feels like a very pure piece, with it sounding very new and fresh. Keep an eye out for more LOSTON originals as he keeps creating great new tracks.
