Live Review: Hudson Mohawke 'Chimes'

23 July 2014 | 12:19 pm | Lauren Payne

Hudson Mohawke has released the title track from his forthcoming EP, Chimes.

HUDSON MOHAWKE is back again with another new track that will blow you away. the track, 'Chimes', is the title track of his new forthcoming EP of the same name which features new material that we've all been dying to hear.

The EP comes not long after a remix that MOHAWKE produced for DUCK SAUCE in April and although this producer can successfully rework great tracks, his original work is what we've come to adore and so his new Chimes EP will be a collection that everyone will be talking about for months to come.

'Chimes' has a bit of a hip-hop influence flowing throughout it's innards. With some light synths dancing atop a smooth base that ripples throughout 'Chimes' like a river, the track has lovely elements that blend together beautifully. You'd be forgiven at this point for thinking that 'Chimes' is a very light track, but of course that's not the case. Soon we hear a blast of horns and grunts pushing their way through the serene synths to add in a hard bite that gives the single more of an edge. 'Chimes' switches from it's lighter side to it's harder side quite often , showing us the different textures and layers of sounds in his versatility.
