Live Review: Tora 'Overcome' ft. Potato Potato

13 June 2014 | 12:00 am | Adriana Barro

Byron Bay knows how to make 'em. Tora returns with their newest track 'Overcome' featuring harmonic vocals by Merryn Boller.

Here's another group of talented young people to make you feel bad about yourself. It's okay though, because their music appears to have healing powers, you will get through this. TORA is the group of five bright young things hailing from Byron Bay who make wonderfully smooth, down tempo indie-folk electronica.

TORA started the year on the right foot by being asked to play The Falls Festival, and have only continued to move forward from there. The latest offering from the group comes in the form of 'Overcome', a track which features Merryn Boller of POTATO POTATO, with her sweet, harmonic vocals drifting across the top of the ever changing beat below, ripe with synths and rhythmic harmonies.

According to TORA's Jo Lowenthal, all of this magic was created in a band members bedroom, as simple as that. The humble means of production shine a light on the ethos of TORA, who are essentially just a bunch of guys doing what they love. Keep an eye on these ones, they're on to something.
