Live Review: Sade 'Never Thought I'd See The Day' (L-Vis 1990 Sunrise Edit)

16 June 2014 | 5:36 pm | Jessica Holton

L-Vis 1990 has remixed a classic from one of the most well known lady crooners Sade entitled 'Never Thought I'd See The Day'.

SADE is known as being one of the smoothest lady crooners to have ever existed. Images of frosted lenses, plum coloured blush, and red roses spring to mind when she is mentioned. L-VIS 1990 has dared to take on one of her classics and has hit the ground running.

The breathy vocals of the original must remain, something that L-VIS 1990 knew all along. Sade's beautiful vocal chords ring out alongside some telltale 1980s style synth. L-VIS 1990 put his own spin to the original with a skittish beat and galactic sampling.

The complexity of his sampling actually creates an anticipation for the saxophone to come screeching in. This remix has just taken the original and created something modern, refreshing, and all-round plain clever. While L-VIS 1990 pays swaying homage to the beautiful Sade, they also subtly twist and turn the original, creating a new meaning for the listener.

Throw all those preconceived notions that you may have about the peach coloured late 80s to early 90s out of the window, Sade has been remixed and reinvented so that all is not lost from that very romantic piece of music history.
