Live Review: Rustie 'Raptor'

25 June 2014 | 11:12 am | Adriana Barro

Mind frazzling sounds by Glasgow's Rustie as he returns with 'Raptor' off his forthcoming album.

If you have trouble getting out of bed in the mornings, even when your alarm is set at intervals of three minutes and on the highest possible volume - I think I have found the answer to your problems. Its name is 'Raptor' and it's a brain shaking tune bought to you by Glasgow's very own RUSTIE. This, if nothing else, will get you out of bed.

RUSTIE's second album titled 'Green Language' is set for release in August via Warp Records, and to get us ready for it, we have been treated with this happy-trap injection 'Raptor'. In true RUSTIE fashion, this track sounds like it survives on a steady diet of red cordial and sour straps.

It's high energy to say the least, and changes the idea of 'trap' music by removing the down beat, slow feel that would usually be associated with that style, replacing it with fast, busy sounds that feels like a constant musical high-five. Make sure you're awake when you listen to this one, and no, that isn't your neighbours fire alarm.

It's just RUSTIE.
