Live Review: Jamie xx 'All Under One Roof Raving'

25 June 2014 | 11:08 am | Hannah Galvin

Jamie xx has released his brand new single 'All Under One Roof Raving' inspired by his time spent away from his UK home.

Following the release of acclaimed double single 'Girl' / 'Sleep Sound', prestigious English producer JAMIE XX has followed up the release with his monstrous new track, 'All Under One Roof Raving'.

Serving as a reminder to not take any time spent away from both home and abroad for granted, Jamie xx wrote the new song whilst gallivanting around the world with his band The xx.

Kicking for just under six minutes, 'All Under One Roof Raving' is a pleasing antidote to a homesick diagnosis that Jamie xx had been heralding since being away from the UK. Keeping you on the edge of your seat, the marathon exudes a series of fragmented vocal samples competing against a myriad of beats, synth-work and bass; scraping, flicking, stomping and fleeing in and around the heroic  dialogue illustrated. Through this contrast of community against the isolated instrumentation at play, it's almost as though Jamie is represented by the latter; experiencing a sense of disconnectivity from the place that is his home.

Through the use, shatter and inversion of the cold blue and hot pink objects piecing together and completely separating in the clip, the idea of fun and games interchangeably morphs into feelings of morose and nostalgia; perfectly depicting the inspiration that drove the crafting of this song.

Confidently revealing that the track is for his run of unannounced UK dates that are to take place over the year ahead, 'All Under One Roof Raving' is cleverly titled as an enthusiastic wave to the future, as Jamie hopes to "keep it UK".

Jamie xx's latest single, 'All Under One Roof Raving' is available for digital purchase HERE via the legends at Young Turks. Keep your eye on the Jamie xx front, as the artist has mentioned his desire of putting out a solo, full-length album over the next year.
