Live Review: Gudu 'Etheren' (Dugong Jr Remix)

25 June 2014 | 3:13 pm | Alean Penaflor

Melbourne producer Dugong Jr. puts his own spin on Gudu's track, 'Etheren'.

Jordan Parrello and Tom Eady are a new electronic duo that go by GUDU. Releasing their first original track 'Etheren' just last week, it's already received some love from Melbourne producer and Cant Say resident DJ, DUGONG JRin the form of a remix.

Whilst GUDU's original is a slow, deep groove, DUGONG JR's take is a build up of minimal house elements that builds into a complex layering of piercing synths and pitchy vocal stabs, swirling into a buzzing climax only to ease back down to a more fragmented soundscape.

Put it this way, the original edit could be compared to that dancefloor individual, whose moves are so smoothly understated that you begin to question how they're moving in all their sleek and suave glory. DUGONG JR's remix - on the other hand - is that lively club patron who's suddenly made a circle of onlookers around them as they tear the floor a new a-hole.

Though these two characters differ in the experiences they offer, they always tend to be your two favourite people from a night out. So regardless of which one you favour more, you know you're in for a good and albeit entertaining time.
