Live Review: Alison Wonderland ‘Lies’

24 June 2014 | 3:47 pm | Caitlin Medcalf

Just a few days out from the official release of her 'Come Down' EP, ALISON WONDERLAND has dropped a second track titled ‘Lies’.

Absolutely slaying stages and warehouses across Australia, the US and the world over the course of 2014 has been a result of Australian producer ALISON WONDERLAND’s hard work, sweat and determination.

Set to release her debut EP ‘Calm Down’ on the 27th of June through Falcona, she’s already dropped a teaser in the form of the first single, ‘I Want U’. Just a few days out from the official release, she’s dropped a second track titled ‘Lies’.

‘I Want U’ was absolutely huge in its delivery, with these layers upon layers that consequently feel quite phantom in their fusion, so that 15 sounds, sound like they’re supposed to be a single sound.

I feel like ‘Lies’ is the auditory summation of her work to date. ‘Lies’ takes the same approach as ‘I Want U’, but the real winner here is the way she’s set up the track. Volume fades and a perfectly set sound structure give hints to the big parts of the song.

‘Lies’ is a wonderland of vocal samples that are built to bring you up, and then smack you back down. Well, at least that’s how it feels when the song’s over.
