30 May 2014 | 1:49 pm | Lauren Payne

Miguel has released the film clip for his track 'Simplethings' and the simplicity makes it beautiful.

So some artists have decided to create tracks specifically for television shows and films. It's becoming a trend nowadays, the artists is given the subject matter and uses the story the create a full-proof hit that will no doubt please millions.

MIGUEL has had the chance to do that with HBO's infamous series Girls and created his track 'Simplethings' for it's soundtrack. Now just because the song has been written for a very popular, yet controversial television series, it does not in fact mean that it is bad. This song, is actually brilliant.

The track starts off with a very real atmosphere, you hear a soft acoustic guitar playing a sweet melody whilst people bustle around it chatting and just doing what they always do. It puts a very real element on the track and makes it slightly more down-to-earth, more artists should get onto that. All of a sudden you are bombarded with a crunchy electric guitar and MIGUEL's soft vocals turning up the acoustic melody and getting into the songs groove as quickly as it can.

The lyrics are very raw and sweet at the same time, just asking you to "smoke with me baby," because "I just want the simple things". The track is an amazing presentation of MIGUEL's talent and the new video that accompanies it definitely does 'Simplethings' justice.

Shot in black and white, the video is a sombre story of a girl and a guy who are just wandering the streets of Hollywood. The video consists of a series of beautifully framed shots of the girl, the guy and a pair of dogs roaming Hollywood and focus on the subtle beauty of the track rather than creating an outlandish video that tales away all of the song's meaning.

'Simplethings' is featured on the Girls Official Soundtrack however, if you just want more MIGUEL, then you can you can grab his album Kaleidoscope Dream from iTunes now.
