Releasing their debut LP, the legends at Dune Rats RATS have given us a teaser of the album with their latest single and clip for ‘Funny Guy’.

Brisbane brats DUNE RATS have always had a thing for creating this raucous blend of indie rock and garage punk, but with a mighty dose of  “who cares” and a refreshing “fuck you” attitude.

Their music translates as a heck of a lot of fun, and as such, the trio are quite well known for their energised live shows, teeming with character and utter fun.

Set to release their debut self-titled LP on the 1st of Dune, the legends over at DUNE RATS have given us a bit of another sneaky teaser into the ways of the album, with a clip for their latest single, ‘Funny Guy’.

The track itself is a real step towards this incredibly reformed sound DUNE RATS have been working so hard over the past few years to achieve. Backup vocals and punchy lyrics and phrases are paired with sunny riffs and a charging beat that maintains a swift pace throughout the track’s entirety.

The video opens with an old Parisian silent-movie style header, but is abruptly interrupted by a swift count in from the drum kit. Typical DUNE RATS. We then pan over (I think it’s BC) dressed in a Krusty the Clown-esque head get-up, and to make the sad mime theme a touch more authentic, he’s even got the make-up to match. Throwing cards with the lyrics to the song across a Parisian walkway, they’ve completed the scene by actually filming it in France, where the Eiffel Tower looms above this silent movie.

DUNE RATS have certainly been on their A-game since they began. As this track is a teaser for the album, we can only begin to wonder what else is actually in store for us on the album.
