Live Review: The 2 Bears Return With 'Angel (Touch Me)'

1 May 2014 | 10:37 am | Lauren Payne

The 2 Bears have returned with a brand new music video and album announcement.

After a two year absence, THE 2 BEARS have returned with a brand new track that comes with a video, and an album to be released.

Comprised of Raf Rundell and HOT CHIP's JOE GODDARD, THE 2 BEARS haven't really been putting out too much since their 2013 remixes of 'Take A Look Around'. The pair have been kind of missing in action and we've been playing 'Time In Mind' and 'Work' a bunch until something new emerged. Luckily, today is the day we receive new 2 BEARS material.

The duo have released a new track called 'Angel (Touch Me)' and it's a very uplifting track that you'll want to listen to in your saddest times. The great part about this release is that it comes with a music video straight up, so we have a visual element to refer to as well as an audio.

'Angel (Touch Me)' has a very uplifting melody that will pick you right on up. A light piano riff carries the track along with the vocals that tell a story about someone needing an arm around a shoulder. 'Angel (Touch Me)' has a steady beat, being not too fast or too slow, and just walking along perfectly beside the melody and vocals. This is a wonderful comeback from THE 2 BEARS and the video tells the song's story very well with one man turning everyone's day around.

The whole music video is shot in black and white and runs in a way that's not dissimilar to the silent films of the 1920s. The video tells the story of an angel who travels the city putting smiles on peoples faces with just the slightest touch. It's quite happy and cheerful even though it's all in monotone colours. the imagery is dominant here and if you watched the video without the sound, you'd probably feel the same as both the music and images are just as heartfelt.

'Angel (Touch Me)' is THE 2 BEARS' way of announcing a brand new album called The Night Is You which features 12 brand new tracks that the duo have produced. The Night Is You will be released through Southern fried records on June 30.
