Live Review: Sia 'Chandelier' (Night Cruise Bootleg)

28 May 2014 | 10:55 pm | Alean Penaflor

Perth producer Night Cruise reworks Sia's chart-topper, 'Chandelier'.

Early in the year we featured musical newcomer, a Perth producer that goes by the alias of NIGHT CRUISE. Drawing endless comparisons to WAVE RACER,  the 8-bit synth pop vibes of NIGHT CRUISE's debut track 'Sunsets' had us fervently agreeing he/she/they were one to keep a close eye on.

Following the collective nodding and ear-ppreciation of that original release, the producer has followed up with a remix of forever anthemic DESTINY'S CHILD 'Say My Name' and more recently, a reworking of SIA's current chart topper and 'have you seen this?' comment - inducing video, 'Chandelier'.

Fuzzy distortion leads the listener into this new world, where SIA may sure have been the creator but NIGHT CRUISE is the ruler. Whilst the original came off as a brooding pop piece, the bootleg works as a sexy, electronic gem, a shade more depth to listeners' initial taste of NIGHT CRUISE's work.

Reverberating stabs of synth swells, a chorus laced with pitch altered vocals and low end beats to really sink into, it's a seamless bootleg edit that proves very difficult to fault.
