Live Review: Little Dragon 'Paris' (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Edit)

21 May 2014 | 5:06 pm | Alean Penaflor

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs remixes Little Dragon's 'Paris' with this Holiday Edit.

A stuttering of synths, the building pulse of low end beats and the sound of a siren whirring past; this is just a mere welcome into TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS' reimagining of LITTLE DRAGON's 'Paris'

Taken from LITTLE DRAGON's 2014 album Nabuma Rubberband, 'Paris' follows their first album teaser, single 'Klapp Klapp'. Whilst the original has its indie/electro traits, T.E.E.D's mastermind Orlando Higginbottom turns the swedish band's  bouncy pop-esque track into a more mysterious and foreboding number.

Like in a horror film where a character is revealed to have a sibling, a twin who has been kept in the shadows in fear of upstaging their chirpier twin counterpart; this is what Higginbottom's holiday edit is to the LITTLE DRAGON original.

Though absolutely nothing horrific about the T.E.E.D edit, the remix does have shades of evil genius with its spotlight on LITTLE DRAGON's Yukimi Nagano vocals, her sultry french whispers prodded along to the edit's opening and allowing it to take reign. This T.E.E.D edit downplays the original's experimental quality and more so  leans towards its club-mix vibes.
