Live Review: Delphic 'Colours Of the Day'

16 May 2014 | 1:20 pm | Lauren Payne

Delphic have made a sweet return with their very first mixtape featuring a house influenced track called 'Colours Of The Day'.

We haven't heard from electronic trio DELPHIC in quite some time. Since their last release the boys have been busy recording away and developing their sound, the days of Acolyte are over and the days of the act's new sound are here.

The trio have released a series of brand new tracks on their very first mixtape which is compiled of seven brand new tracks that have been recorded over quite a long time. The mixtape is called Get Familiar and 'Colours Of the Day' is probably one of the best tracks on the new tape.

If you do remember back to DELPIC's Acolyte days, you'll remember the series of cooler synths they used for songs such as 'Red Lights' and 'Halcyon'. The band sounded like they were about to emerge from the depths of a cool spring with their samples sounding so deep and hollow but also liquidated, but although that was then, now, the boys have something completely new to bring to the table.

On 'Colours Of The Day' DEPLHIC have gone strolled closer to the house section of things and used atmospheric synths in parts before breaking out into a melody created by chopped vocals, warmer synths and high-pitched samples that dance across the track. The beat is very upbeat and one you instantly want to dance to. With a house snare just charging on throughout 'Colours Of the Day' we discover that DELPHIC not only can make a wonderful pop track, but also a great club track for our lively weekends.

The versatility of DELPHIC is shown throughout the Get Familiar mixtape which you can download for free. If you're loving the new sound the entire mixtape will keep you dancing over the winter months so that the warmth in the track quickly gets to you.
