Party liaisons over at Witching Hour Order, Can't Say and Collarts have just revealed another card up their sleeve, and it's looking like an ace of spades.

The party liaisons over at Witching Hour Order, Can't Say and Collarts have just revealed another card up their sleeve, and it's looking like an absolute ace of spades.

Geared toward a more experimental musical vibe, GRASSHOPPERS is slated to be the latest and greatest monthly party to hit the Melbourne lane-ways, going down at Ding Dong Lounge and kicking off later this month. Pencil the date of the inaugural launch night into your calendar now: Tuesday May 20 is shaping up to be a doozie.

Funky Melburnian five-piece JAKUBI will be setting the setting the bar and laying the beats with their groovy dose of soulful, R&B flavoured pop. These guys are hitting the disco-funk craze squarely on its head, channeling something like early RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS cum JAMIROQUAI cum CHROMEO.

They've already had a track snatched up by Norwegian wonderchild KYGO, and their banging tune 'Feels Like Yesterday' genuinely sounds like something from the STEVIE WONDER back catalogue. If the blood hasn't already gone to your legs, seek medical attention.

Slightly greener producer LONDON also promises to melt some hearts and brains, rolling out his future-garage, TA-KU/BURIAL-inspired sound for your head-bopping pleasure. Local DJs TRANTER and TOMDERSON will keep the vibes going, along with a handful of others, until the free dumplings come out at midnight.

May 20's the day- doors open at 9pm. Suss out Facebook for further deets at the official Grasshoppers page, or join the Grasshoppers Launch Event here.

WIN WIN WIN

We're throwing out a free double pass to the legendary Grasshoppers launch night. If that sounds like something you might be interested in, send your name to info@purplesneakers.com.au, with 'GRASSHOPPERS' in the subject line. We will then proceed to hit you back if you're the lucky duck.
