LISTEN: Chromeo ft. Ezra Koenig ‘Ezra’s Interlude’
I’m sure since CHROMEO released their upbeat tune ‘Jealous (I Ain’t With It)’, you’ve had it stuck in your head. Just when you thought you were free of it, you saw the duo perform the track at Coachella in front of a huge crowd.
CHROMEO have been releasing some killer tracks recently, all of which will be featured on their new full-length LP, and they’ve been extremely catchy. Today CHROMEO released a new single, which is also featured on their new album White Women, and this one features some vocals from everyone’s favourite frontman, Ezra Koenig.
The voice of VAMPIRE WEEKEND, has been on his own musical escapades, much like his friend Chris Baio aka BAIO, which mainly involves collaborating with a series of artists. CHROMEO and Ezra have come together to create a rather different track, something you may expect to hear from Koenig or VAMPIRE WEEKEND, but not so much CHROMEO.
The new track is called ‘Ezra’s Interlude’ which is a fitting name as it seems like Koenig has had much to do with the track, melody wise. The whole track is very quiet with the introduction being Koenig’s voice crooning above soft clicks and a piano track. It’s all very lovely and soft, something we haven’t heard CHROMEO do for quite some time. The song soon does pick up with some trickling synths making way for very light percussion and a few sliding synths that swoop and droop around the vocals.
‘Ezra’s Interlude’ will no doubt be a very sweet break on White Women, where we can relax after dancing through all of the crazy, excitable tracks that will no doubt be scattered across the LP. White Women will be released on May 12 and you should definitely be looking forward to it by now.
