INTERVIEW: Swick for Adidas Originals

14 April 2014 | 5:38 pm | Edmund Kirkwood

Melbourne producer DJ Swick is the subject of a new video for Adidas Originals, explaining Swick's start in music and his EP with Mad Decent's Diplo.

Melbourne electronic producer SWICK has posted a new video in conjunction with Adidas Originals. Wearing a sleek new pair of ZX's, he explains that his journey into producing came from a boredom of current electronic music.

He admitted that he found a lot of electronic music to be the same 'safe' sound - a common gripe of a lot of listeners - and aspired to make something different and truly original. True to his word, his sound is full of juicy snippets from a range of genres, something that is so interesting about his music, and demonstrates his "no rules" philosophy of producing.

After a keen fascination with the lads at Mad Decent, he got the opportunity to team up with Diplo and create a collaborative EP which the 21 year old producer cites as one of his highlights so far.

At such a young age, Swick's future is certainly up in the air at the moment. But given his impressive role call of collaborators and a sound that is refreshingly vibrant and fun, the producer is guaranteed to keep pushing musical boundaries and creating some mean beats that will ensure that Swick is a name that we will keep hearing.
