Live Review: SOUNDCLOUD WRAP: Tink

21 March 2014 | 11:22 am | Nick Luke

Tink is the alias of the young DJ-turned-producer making waves in Australia right now. We sat down and picked her brain about her fav tunes of the moment.

Despite her cute name, don't be fooled - behind TINK's alias there is some serious firepower and heavyweight bass in store for listeners.

Honing her DJ skills since highschool, this 21-year old has seen the stage supporting the likes of TNGHT, BAAUER, WHAT SO NOT and more, as well as seeing radio support from everyone's fav airwave star NINA LAS VEGAS.

With all this and more going on for TINK, we thought it was high time we got in touch with the young lady and got the low down on some of her fav tunes at the moment in the latest edition of our SOUNDCLOUD WRAP.

CROOKED COLOURS 'Come Down' (PALACE Remix)

"PALACE and I are both on Sleigh Ride, and I'm always pretty blown away when I hear his stuff. It’s so well polished and clean, and there’s all these subtle tricks throughout to keep it interesting. This CROOKED COLOURS remix is pretty special; minimal without being simple."

A$AP ROCKY & GESAFFELSTEIN 'In Distress' (AGLORY Vision)

"A$AP ROCKY is one of my all-time favourites, and his GESAFFELSTEIN collab was pretty smooth. But this remix by ALGORY takes it to another level. It’s aggressive French techno; I love it."

RUFUS 'Tonight' (KILTER Remix)

"It might be arguable whether or not KILTER has the best beats in the game, but it’s inarguable that he has the best hair. He’s kind of Australia’s Harry Styles. And now that that’s out of the way... LDRU dropped this at NLV Presents, and I had to get it. Cowbells!!"

RL GRIME & WHAT SO NOT 'Tell Me'

"I think it would be un-Australian not to back this one. Seriously though, trap as a broad genre is getting repetitive, so when someone can put out a 70 bpm that’s as interesting as this is, I’m in."

FALCONS 'Be Quiet'

"So hard not to dance. This is one of my favourites to play, it even gets people posted on the walls moving."

ALISON WONDERLAND 'Get Ready' (LEADERBOY Remix)

"This remix is from last year, but it’s still great. It reminds me of a re-imagined Beetroots circa ’09; like bottled swag. Can I say swag without losing credibility? Swag. Sorry."

OF MONSTERS AND MEN 'Dirty Paws' (ROYAL Refix)

"ROYAL used to pump out real dance floor burners, but his latest stuff seems to be on more of an indie beats tip. I’m not complaining though. His remix of Chris Brown’s Fine China is worth a serious listen, too."

INDIAN SUMMER 'Pin Tweaks'

"Really into the pulse on this one. The percussive break at the 2 minute mark is dope."

MOTEZ 'Hold Tight'

"There’s nothing I can say about 'TEZ that hasn’t already been said. His stuff is always super tight and carefully thought out. He really is a mastermind when it comes to production."

BLACK MILK 'Dirt Bells'

"I’m always going to be a hip hop girl! BLACK MILK on that Detroit rap for Record Store Day. Fan."
