GALLERY + SET LIST: Mountain Sounds Festival

20 March 2014 | 12:10 pm | Tony Kingston

We went on a road trip to the Central Coast and took some snaps and ID'ed some tracks, this time at the debut of Mountain Sounds Festival.

We went on a road trip to Mountain Sounds Festival on Saturday to witness the likes of BALL PARK MUSIC, SNAKADAKTAL, WORLD'S END PRESS, WORDLIFE, THE HOLIDAYS, COSMO'S MIDNIGHT and many more play at the new boutique event on NSW's Central Coast.

When a festival starts up, sometimes the experience can be quite average for attendees due to the lack of organisation. On the weekend however, we saw a great debut with all boxes ticked, resulting in a smooth and memorable day involving very short toilet and drink lines, clear sound, a decent selection of food and minimal walking between stages. The venue made it feel like you were partying on a friend's private farm and because the line up wasn't overly commercialized, Mountain Sounds also attracted a fun and respectful crowd.

While punters were able to see consistently good performances on the main stages, the hidden gem was certainly the Club Mod stage, which featured a group of damn fine DJs including CANYONS, SOFTWAR, SLOWBLOW and PARKSIDE playing records inside a bus facing a dance floor surrounded by hay stacks. This was an excellent place to hear some tracks you weren't familiar with (one of the reasons people should be attending events like this in the first place) and to have a nice dance with your new buddies in the open air!
