Friendly Fires Return With 'Before Your Eyes'

After promising you a wonderful life in their track 'Paris' and informing you of the magical delight that is involved with flying to Hawaii in the aptly named track 'Hawaiian Air', FRIENDLY FIRES have had some interesting lyrics that cradle their danceable melodies softly and we can't get enough.

Since releasing their festive album Pala in 2011, and not to mention being remixed by the wonderful TENSNAKE, FRIENDLY FIRES have been flying pretty low. Singer Ed Macfarlane did make a special appearance on DISCLOSURE's breakthrough album Settle, by singing on a track called 'Defeated No More', but other than that, the electronic trio have been off our radars.

After a two-year disappearance, FRIENDLY FIRES have returned with their brand new track 'Before Your Eyes', which was produced with the help of THE ASPHODELLS, a very active electronic duo. THE ASPHODELLS released their debut album Ruled By Passion Destroyed By Lust in 2013 and this new collaboration has definitely brought out the best in both acts.

With the track being over seven minutes long, you are thrown into this psychedelic world by the two bands and become lost for its duration. The vocals of Ed Macfarlane are distorted slightly and have a slather of reverb transforming his voice into a hauntingly calming ghost-like sound. The melody that has been created keeps a steady beat and uses bright synths that slide nonchalantly through 'Before Your Eyes'. It's a wonderfully relaxing song and once its over you're left wondering why it finished so quickly; you just have a sudden urge to hear more.

'Before Your Eyes' will be available to purchase through Telophase on March 31 as an AA-sided single on 12" along with another track called 'Velo'. This will be the first release that Telophase, FRIENDLY FIRES' own label, and by the looks of this it will be a stunning beginning.
